Tayo


Tayo, a consulting agency, innovates design for both people and planet. Established by a "community of friends who cultivate creative solutions & sustainable strategies,” they have approached me to shoot nature-themed portraits prior to their inception. This served as a set of foundational images for site building, and content creating.

The shoot was divided into four layouts – lovers and grass, balcony, picnic, and seaside.

Since most of the shots were portraits, I used wide apertures and quick shutter speeds to incorporate depth into the scenes.  At the time these were shot, I was obsessed (and still, actually, am obsessed) with photographer, Sam Dameshek’s film shots. Not having a film camera, I studied exactly how these looks can be achieved via post-processing. Positive shadows and negative highlights to manipulate the light, plus greener tints and cohesive color grading were some of the techniques I used. Let’s not forget the holy grail of texture in most film shots, the holy grain

Shot on a Canon Autoboy 3 and an Olympux X using Ektar 100 and Kodak Gold 200
